Scope

This Privacy Policy explains what information Atlasblock, Inc. ("Atlasblock", "we", "us") collects when you use the Atlasblock API, the dashboard, and the website at atlasblock.dev, why we collect it, and what choices you have. It applies to account holders and visitors. It does not describe the residents of the neighborhoods our data covers. See the note near the end about the data the API returns.

Information we collect

We collect the following, and not more than we need to run the Service:

  • Account information. Your name, your email address, and a hashed version of your password. We never store your password in plain text.
  • Payment information. When you buy a paid plan, our payment processor, Stripe, collects and stores your card details. We do not see or store full card numbers. We keep a record of your plan, your billing status, and the card brand and last four digits that Stripe reports back to us.
  • API usage data. Your API keys, request counts, timestamps, the endpoints you call, and the IP address a request comes from. We use this to meter usage, enforce rate limits, bill accurately, and keep the Service secure.
  • Cookies. An essential session cookie that keeps you signed in to the dashboard, and analytics cookies set by PostHog, our product analytics tool, so we can understand how the Service is used. We describe both in the cookies section below.
[ 03 ]

How we use information

We use the information above to:

  • Provide and operate the Service, including sign in and the dashboard.
  • Meter usage, apply rate limits and quotas, and bill paid plans.
  • Keep the Service secure, investigate abuse, and fix problems.
  • Respond to your support requests and send you service messages about your account.
  • Understand how the Service is used so we can improve it.
[ 04 ]

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We share it only in these cases:

  • Service providers. Companies that help us run the Service, such as Stripe for payments, PostHog for product analytics, and our hosting and infrastructure providers. They may process your information only to provide their service to us.
  • Legal reasons. When we are required to by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of Atlasblock, our users, or the public.
  • Business transfers. If Atlasblock is involved in a merger, an acquisition, or a sale of assets, your information may move as part of that deal. We will let you know before your information becomes subject to a different policy.
[ 05 ]

Cookies and analytics

We use an essential cookie to keep you signed in. It is required for the dashboard to work, so it cannot be turned off while you are logged in.

We use PostHog for product analytics. It sets cookies and measures which pages you visit and which features you use, such as creating an API key, so we can see how the Service is used and improve it. When you are signed in, we associate this activity with your account. We keep this to understanding and improving the Service. We do not use it to build advertising profiles, we do not sell it, and we do not run third party advertising trackers.

[ 06 ]

Data retention

We keep your account information for as long as your account is open. We keep usage and billing records for as long as we need them to run the Service, meet legal and tax obligations, and resolve disputes. When we no longer need information, we delete it or remove what identifies you.

[ 07 ]

Security

We protect your information with technical and organizational measures, including encryption in transit, hashed passwords, and hashed API keys. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot promise absolute security, but we work to keep your information safe and to respond quickly if something goes wrong.

[ 08 ]

Your rights and choices

You can view and update your account information from the dashboard, and you can close your account at any time. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and to object to or limit certain uses.

To make a request, email support@atlasblock.dev from the address on your account. We will respond within the time the law requires, and we will not treat you differently for exercising these rights.

[ 09 ]

A note on the data the API returns

The Service returns information about places, such as ratings, geography, schools, and public safety statistics, built from public and aggregate sources. It is not personal information about the people who live there, and it is not meant to identify any individual. Your use of that data in your own product is governed by the Terms of Service, including the limits on decisions about specific people.

[ 10 ]

Children

The Service is meant for developers and businesses, not for children. It is not directed to anyone under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, email support@atlasblock.dev and we will delete it.

[ 11 ]

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make a material change, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where it makes sense, let you know by email or in the dashboard. If you keep using the Service after a change takes effect, you accept the updated policy.
